PostSubject: Difference found in slab physics   Wed Feb 23, 2011 10:15 pm

I With the new addition of cobble, sandstone, and wood slabs I decided to test and see if there was a difference in length

Each shot was fired with a delay of four seconds and a charge of four tnt on top of a hill. The Findings are as followed. The cannon faced west

Smoothstone, and Cobble slabs both fired at a range of 25 blocks

A dirt block was used as a control and fired at a range of 50 blocks

The most surprising discovery was the wood and sandstone slabs. both fired for 70 blocks.

[left]Thus it is my conclusion that the wood and sandstone slabs both fire for a larger distance under the same conditions after repeated firings of the cannon.

Wait, what, what are you doing to those slabs? What do you mean "firing the slabs"? I am very confoozled by this, please elaborate
(a pic is worth 1000 words).

I believe he is saying that the tnt lands on the slabs, and thus, is launched by the cannon.

Yes, that is what he was saying. I was talking with him on Mumble when he was testing this. WE MUST KEEP THIS A SECRET AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!

Quite interesting

This is quite useful, slabs could be changed according to the location of the enemy.

I do believe this actually has no effect on cannon range... but if someone else could confirm it... maybe video evidence, I'd change my mind.

I'd test it but I cbf to make a testing range in SSP atm.

Maybe in a few hours when I get home.

I tested this in SSP using 5 tnt per shot, 1 as ammo and 4 as propellant.
The results were:
dirt: 50 blocks.
all slabs 65-70 blocks.

Did you record it? I'd like to see it for myself.
This could be potentially game changing? I might just be overexaggerating though Smile

Actually I'm probably better off doing myself, huh?

I'll re-test it and post a link to the video here once I finish recording it.

I can't wait for this to be confremed! I'm still getting my gargamel map seeds mountains cultivated in a way where I can start running cannon tests and what not.

Edit: On a side note, have we tried doing the same thing with ore blocks and refined ore blocks? ex;iron and gold when you mine it, but it hasn't been smelted yet, and also when you craft nine iron/gold/diamond together to make a solid block?
